Frequently Asked Questions |
Can I keep/use my existing mobile number?
Africa Mobile 09 is a dedicated roaming service to use only when you are traveling abroad. Your existing number will remain on your current provider’s service but you will be provided with an additional Africa Mobile 09 number for international use. Consequently should you wish to receive calls on your original number whilst roaming you have three options.
• Use voicemail to inform callers of your Africa Mobile 09 roaming number.
• Use voicemail and access your messages remotely.
• Use call divert.
When in your home country you should be using your local mobile service provider.
Do I have to maintain service with my existing provider?
09 is designed to only benefit roaming customers and is not necessarily cost effective when used within your home area.
Will the Africa Mobile
09 card work in any handset?
The Africa Mobile 09 card will function in any relatively new (from last 2 years) handset. However many service providers and networks restrict usage of the handset that they sell to their own SIM card by using SIM blocking, in order to prevent subscribers taking advantage of services provided by their competitors. In order to use a restricted handset it is necessary to ask your provider for an unblock code to release your handset. Some networks, providers etc make it difficult for end users to gain the required information and charge an administration fee. Many independent mobile phone stores provide a similar service on site to open virtually any model of mobile phone for general usage.
Does the Africa Mobile 09 SIM
Card expire?
If you do not use it or recharge it within any period of 9 months it will expire together with possible call value left on it. To avoid this you can recharge or place a call.

Yes if not used within 9 months.

Subject to the country you are in . Whilst the Africa Mobile
